Fly Fishing Guiding

expertise to show the experienced trout angler how and
where to fulfil their fly fishing dreams, but they also
have the patience and desire to see the novice trout
fishermen and women enjoy their Lake Taupo fly fishing

All fly fishing gear including waders is supplied, but
if you wish to bring your own, then eight or nine
weight 9 ft rods with weight forward floating and
sinking lines are recommended, as are thermal or
neoprene waders with felt soled boots in winter. During
the summer fishing months lightweight Gortex waders and
wading boots are recommended.

expeditions throughout the Lake Taupo region including
the Tongariro, Tauranga - Taupo, Waitahanui,
Hinemaiaia, Waihaha rivers, the stream mouths of the

the summer fishing months. Such rivers as the
Ngaruroro, Rangitikei, Mohaka, Raukituri and Waiau,
produce brown and rainbow trout of trophy size. Clad in
chest waders, you can nymph or wet fly fish till your
heart's content, and when your arm tires you can stand
and enjoy the amazing scenery that surrounds
you.

Lake Taupo Volcanic Zone and in the Kaimanawa
Forest park for trophy, red, sika and fallow deer, wild
boar, goats and turkeys or further afield. Most hunts
are by appointment and can be arranged on a daily basis
with 4WD 7 seater Landcruiser Prado transport or
helicopter. Fly in packages from the Helipad at
Taupo Debretts Thermal Resort accommodation are
also available or Campout option. The best time is
December till March. Trophy fees are payable to
landowners based on size and condition of the trophy.
